Greetings:
It is my understanding that the vacation of Museum Way is inconsistent with the City’s
General Plan and ignores the Downtown Specific Plan.
Additionally, I sent the email below to the City Council on May 7, 2024, without a response
from anyone and now sending it again, with a request to you as well as the Council to provide
the requested information and documentation.
Thank you,
Alan Merson
Greetings:
I have been following the issues surrounding the Marilyn statue from the time it was at
its prior location on the corner of Palm Canyon and Tahquitz. I recall statements at that
time, that the statue brings money into the City, but have not seen any supporting
documentation for that claim at the time, at its past location. Regardless of location,
please provide audited documentation, indicating how much money was brought in
annually, at its past location?
At the time the Wessman development was being approved Museum Way was included
as a public City street. Is it correct the traffic studies done at the time of approval took
into account all of the future traffic flow for a fully built out site, including Museum
Way? Once the vacant sites are permanently built out, as originally approved and traffic
demands increase, what happens if Museum Way remains blocked from traffic flow?
Have new traffic studies been done, considering the closure of Museum Way, after the
two sites are fully built out, per the originally approved development plans? Were any
traffic studies done, before Museum Way was closed?
I look forward to receiving and reviewing the supporting documentation to my
questions.
Thank you,
Alan Merson,
