Dear Palm Springs Planning Commission:
I am a 26-year resident and 23-year business owner in Palm Springs.
I represent Committee to Relocate Marylin, also known as CReMa.
The Planning Commission should reject the application by P.S. Resorts to vacate Museum
Way, to avoid becoming a pawn in the corrupt process that has led to this application.
The Court of Appeals ruled in February 2024, that the closure of Museum Way is,
and has been, illegal for over 3 years. Throughout this saga, it has been glaringly apparent
that the City Council and P.S. Resorts lied when they asserted that the closure of Museum
Way
was “temporary”.
In revising the 2016 Downtown Specific Plan last December, the City Council blithely
discarded
countless hours of citizen input . They reversed the intent of that plan—without an opportunity
for public comment--
by removing the reference to the importance of Museum Way as a view corridor from Palm
Canyon Drive to the
Palm Springs Art Museum. This single point, fought for by citizens in countless “community
listening sessions”,
was thrown out without a second thought. The City Council has made it clear that kowtowing
to special interests
is more important to them than listening to the citizens of this community.
Please reject the application to vacate Museum Way.
Best Regards,
Trina Turk
