On Thursday, August 8, 2019, investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department
Central Homicide responded to an on -duty (officer/ deputy) involved shooting in the city of Palm
Springs. Dispatchers from the Palm Springs Police Department received reports from civilians of
a male armed with a knife walking along the public roadway making verbal threats as he
approached pedestrians. Palm Springs Police Officers arrived and contacted the male subject,

Detective Dickey assumed duties as the primary investigating detective. He advised me of
the circumstances surrounding the shooting and requested I assist him with follow up
investigation.

In the days following the shooting, I assisted Detective Dickey with; follow up interviews [to
include the involved officer(s)], collection, inventory, and 1 or release of evidence, and record
accountability any further information pertinent to this investigation. Additionally, I recorded all
interview(s) and subject contacts associated with this incident and supplied the audio information
to Detective Dickey.
