DATE 15495 08/08/2019 IPPLEMENTAL TO : CRIME REPORT (CONT.) : SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT DR NO. 1908P-1476 SUPPLEMENTAL SOURCE: On 8/8/19 at approximately 1620 hours, I heard over the police radio a report of a subject with a knife who was physically fighting with police officers. Seconds later, I heard Officer Burton say that the officers were still physical with the subject. I then heard Officer Enriquez state that a Taser had been deployed, and approximately 30 seconds later I heard her advise over the radio that there had been "shots fired." OFFICER STATEMENT: I responded to the area of S Palm Canyon and Camino Parocela from the Palm Springs Police Department and arrived at approximately 1630 hours. Once at the location I saw that paramedics were tending to a subject in a construction zone north of the intersection. I assisted in setting up the crime scene tape on the south side of the scene. After assisting with the crime scene tape, I attempted to locate possible witnesses in the area. I then contacted near the southwest corner of the intersection. told me he did not see what happened and had only been alerted to the commotion by the students at the Champion Institute of Cosmetology. After speaking with I was directed to contact a group of subjects on the southeast side of the intersection and was told that one of the subject possibly had video of the incident. I walked to the location and contacted I learned that Detective Escallada was already interviewing the subject who had taken video. told me he had been driving northbound on S Palm Canyon with his family in the car. said as he passed the intersection of Camino Parocela he saw a subject standing in the roadway. described the male as a White male adult wearing a hat and possibly a backpack. was unable to describe any other articles of clothing the subject was wearing. He described the male as "trying to fight" with "nine to ten" other subjects in the area. saw the subject holding a knife and running at the group of people. I asked for clarification as to how the subject had the knife and told me the subject was holding the knife, "like they do in the horror movies when they stab people." then explained the subject was holding the knife in his fist with the blade downward. said the subject would run at the group of people and then back away. told me that the subject then walked quickly southbound on S Palm Canyon Drive. told me he did not see the subject physically fight with anyone. He said once the subject walked away from the group, "and there wasn't going to be a fight," he drove to his residence. said while at this residence he saw several police cars with lights and sirens on heading toward the area he just left. He said he then drove back to the area and saw the police activity. After speaking with Detective Grissom contacted me regarding possible surveillance video from a subject at the Champion Institute of Cosmetology.
