Grissom 15739 08/08/19 kEMENTAL TO CRIME REPORT (CONT./ SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT DR NO. 1908P-1476 SUPPLEMENTAL SOURCE: On 08/08/19, I was assigned to the Crimes Against Persons Unit with the Palm Springs Police Department. At about 1617 hours a call came into dispatch in reference to a physical disturbance at 585 S Palm Canyon Drive (Bank of America). It was reported that one of the subjects had been armed with a knife. OFFICER STATEMENT: While listening to the police radio I heard officers arrive on scene. Moments later I heard officers advise over the radio that they were involved in a physical altercation. Moments later I heard officers advise that shots had been fired. I responded from the station to the scene. I arrived with Detective Escallada as I was riding in his assigned police vehicle. I canvassed the area to search for witnesses. I contacted in the parking lot of 611 S Palm Canyon Drive. He told me he had witnessed the incident. I recorded his interview with Detective Lane's audio recorder which he later booked into evidence. told me he was driving south bound on S Palm Canyon Drive approaching the intersection of Camino Parocela. He saw a male officer on the ground attempting to control another male subject. The male was fighting with the officer and a female officer arrived tothelp the male officer. The male continued to fight with both officers on the ground. He said he saw the female officer with a gun in her right hand1but did not see the shot. Grissom 15739 08/08/19 DR NO 1908P-1476 )LEMENTAL TO : CRIME REPORT (CONT.) : SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT Detective Lane and I responded to 611 S Palm Canyon Drive #206 (Bikram Yoga Plus) and I requested video surveillance from their Nest video surveillance camera. I later received an email from in reference to his incident. The location is located on the second floor of the building and the camera faces the direction of the incident. Due to the glare on the window I was unable to clearly view the incident without video enhancement. The video was later booked into evidence. Detective Lane interviewed . We then responded to Champion Institute of Cosmetology, suite #205. This location is also located on the second floor with large windows that face north toward the scene. I spoke with and he told me the following. He was inside Champion Institute of Cosmetology and observed the altercation between the officers and the subject. He started to record the incident with his cell phone. He showed me the video on his cell phone and I was able to see Officer Burton struggling to control a subject on the ground. The subject appeared to be swinging his arms and legs at Officer Burton. The video clip was 36 seconds long and I later booked it into evidence.
