DESCRIPTION VALUE Thursday 8/8/19 at 1621 hours, I was working uniformed patrol in the City of Palm Springs, County of ,Averside and driving a marked PSPD police car. I was on an unrelated call for service at US Bank, 1793 E. Palm Canyon Drive. I heard over the police radio Officer Enriquez advise that she was in a physical altercation. I responded, Code 3, to their location, Bank of America, 588 S. Palm Canyon Drive, to assist. While enroute, I heard over the police radio Officer Enriquez advise that she had deployed her Taser device. Just a short time later she advised that shots had been fired. I arrived at 1623 hours. I observed Officer Burton, Officer Enriquez, and Officer Clift standing over a subject, later identified as Kevyn Wientraub ("Wientraub"), in the center median between S. Palm Canyon Drive and S. Indian Canyon Drive, just south of Bank of America. I used my vehicle to block northbound traffic at E, Camino Parocela. I approached the Officers and observed that the suspect was lying supine, was not handcuffed, and was being held down on the ground by the Officers. I took hold of Wientraub's right arm and Officer Clift and I rolled Wientraub onto his stomach. I placed a handcuff on his right wrist and Officer Clift, who was controlling Wirentraub's left arm, placed the hand cuff on his left wrist. I observed that Officer Burton was bleeding profusely from his nose and his right hand. I walked Officer Burton away from the scene to the west curb of S. Palm Canyon Drive where he received medical treatment from an American Medical Response medics, prior to him being transported to DRMC for additional treatment.
