A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING
NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL' MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 2024, FOR THE
ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS, AS REQUIRED BY
THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA AND CITY CHARTER.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Palm Springs Municipal Code Section 2.02.010 a General
Municipal Election shall be held on November 5, 2024, for the election of two Members
to the City Council for District 4 and 5, each for a full term of four years; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the Palm Springs, Section 802, requires that elections
shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the California Elections Code, unless
otherwise provided by ordinance.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the foregoing Recitals are true and correct and are incorporated
' herein by this reference.
SECTION 2..That pursuant to the requirements of the Charter of the Palm Springs,
Palm Springs Municipal Code, and the laws of the State of California relating to elections;
there is called and ordered to be held in the City of Palm Springs, California, on
November 5, 2024, a General Municipal Election for the purpose of electing two
Members to the City Council for Districts 4 and 5, each for a full term of four years.
SECTION 3. That the ballots to be used at the election shall be in form and content
as required by law.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk is authorized, instructed, and directed to
coordinate with the County of Riverside Registrar of Voters to procure and furnish any
and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and supplies, equipment and paraphernalia
that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election.
SECTION 5. That the vote center locations and hours of operations, ballot drop
box locations and hours of operations, vote -by -mail procedures and timing, the election
officers, and all other persons and procedures for the General Municipal Election shall be
the same as those utilized by the County of Riverside and in compliance with the Elections
Code of the State of California.
' SECTION 6. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election shall
be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections.
SECTION 7. That notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and

the City Clerk is authorized, instructed, and directed to give further or additional notice of I
the election, in time, form, and manner as required by law.
SECTION 8. That in the event of a tie vote (if any two or more persons receive an
equal and the highest number of votes for an office) as certified by the Election Official,
the City Council shall set a date and time and place and summon the candidates who
have received the tie votes to appear and will determine the tie by lot.
SECTION 9. Pursuant to Section 10263 and 10403 of the California Elections
Code, the canvass of the General Municipal Election is requested to be made by the
Registrar of Voters of County of Riverside and, upon completion, the City Clerk shall
receive the results of the canvass.
SECTION 10. The City Council authorizes the City Clerk to administer said election
and all reasonable and actual election expenses shall be paid by the City upon
presentation of a properly submitted bill.
SECTION 11. The City Clerk is hereby directed to deliver a certified copy of this
resolution with the Board of Supervisors of the County of Riverside and the Riverside
County Registrar of Voters.
