CALL TO ORDER:
ROLL CALL:
REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA: The agenda for this meeting was posted for
public review at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) by 9:00 P.M.
on Thursday, May 30, 2024, as required by established policies and procedures.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA: The Historic Site Preservation Board will discuss the
order of the agenda, may amend the order, note abstentions, and request Consent
Calendar items be removed from the consent calendar for discussion.
PUBLIC COMMENT: This time has been set aside for members of the public to address
the Historic Site Preservation Board on agenda items and items of general interest within
the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board. Although the Historic Site Preservation Board
values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on
items not listed on the posted agenda. There will be three (3) minutes assigned for each
speaker. Testimony for Public Hearings will be taken at the time of the hearing.
1. CONSENT CALENDAR:
1.A APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: May 7, 2024 HSPB MEETING.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Historic Site Preservation Board
Minutes of May 7, 2024.
2. PUBLIC HEARINGS:
2.A. APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR HISTORIC SITE
DESIGNATION OF “THE HARRIET VAN HORN RESIDENCE” LOCATED
AT 1121 LINDA VISTA ROAD, CASE HSPB #157 (APN 507-132-001)
(SY).
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Open the public hearing and take testimony.
2. Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #157 “A
RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC SITE PRESERVATION BOARD OF
THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING
THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “THE HARRIET VAN HOR
RESIDENCE” AS A CLASS 1 HISTORIC SITE, HSPB #157, SUBJECT
TO CONDITIONS (APN 507-132-001), AND A DETERMINATION
PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.”

4. NEW BUSINESS:
4.A. A REQUEST BY DENISE TORRES LIVING TRUST AND MELINDA
WILSON LIVING TRUST FOR APPROVAL TO DEMOLISH A CLASS 4
SITE LOCATED AT 385 EAST RACQUET CLUB ROAD, AND
ASSOCIATED REVIEW FOR POTENTIAL RE-DESIGNATION OF A
CLASS 4 SITE TO A CLASS 1 OR 2 HISTORIC RESOURCE (APN #501-
101-003) (SY).
RECOMMENDATION: Take no action, allow the processing of the
proposed demolition, and determine pursuant to CEQA that this action is
not a project.
4.B. A REQUEST BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR APPROVAL TO
DEMOLISH A CLASS 4 SITE LOCATED AT 2774 NORTH VIA
MIRALESTE (VICTORIA PARK) AND ASSOCIATED REVIEW FOR
POTENTIAL RE-DESIGNATION OF A CLASS 4 SITE TO A CLASS 1 OR
2 HISTORIC RESOURCE (APN 501-590-009) HDEMO 2024-0008 (SY).
RECOMMENDATION: Take no action, allow the processing of the
proposed demolition, and determine pursuant to CEQA that this action is
not a project.
4.C. AN APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR POSSIBLE
HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF 211 N. SUNRISE WAY (HSPB # 158) (SY)
RECOMMENDATION: Direct staff to schedule site visits and a public
hearing of the HSPB to consider the case.

ADJOURNMENT: The Historic Site Preservation Board will adjourn to its regularly
scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 5:30 PM, in the Large Conference Room
at City Hall.
Pursuant to the Government Code Section 54957.5(b)(2) the designated office for
inspection of public records in connection with the meeting is the Department of Planning,
City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. Complete Agenda Packets are available for
public inspection at: Office of the City Clerk, City Hall. Agenda and staff reports are
available on the City’s website: www.palmspringsca.gov. If you would like additional
information on any item appearing on this agenda, please contact the Department of
