To All , Is it true that the city council had 11 closed sessions regarding Section 14 ? Why not any open sessions or public input? Where is the transparency and openness? I guess the PS CC did not want any pushback. Tax payers have a right to have a say how their money is being spent . Let the sun shine in PS City council conference room . Dear Mayor, City Council, City Staff, the PSP Airport Commissioners, and the Human Rights Commissioners, RE: Adoption of the Bluetooth 5.2+ LE Audio and Auracast technology, to benefit those wearing hearing aids and much much more, plus multi language access in all our public gathering spaces. "THE ASK": Please make all our Palm Springs public meeting spaces compatible, and have access to, the Bluetooth 5.2 LE Audio and Auracast standard. "WHAT IS IT?": On December 31st 2019 the new international standard of Bluetooth 5.2 technology was announced and released. This included a critical and transformative technological advancement. Bluetooth 5.2 LE Audio and Auracast enabled hearing aids and other listening devices are in the ears of many millions of people already all around the world, as well as in Palm Springs. Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.4 have already been released and 5.5 is on the way. So we can't really call 5.2 "new" technology, but 23-24 is the time it will start getting noticed and requested. "WHY DOES IT MATTER?": It has the ability to help everyone, but especially those who wear hearing aids, have Cochlear implant devices, and so much more. Even those wearing headphones, earbuds, and the like can benefit from this technology. In places like our Airport it can even broadcast multi-languages. This will make Palm Springs a leader as early adopters of this transformative technology. It also means it will make Palm Springs a more inclusive and accessible place for all. Palm Springs is a sea of hearing aids. This matters. Not hearing clearly is enough to make you Go Bananas! "WHAT DOES IT COST AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL?": It's very inexpensive and especially fast to install and implement. The entire Airport could possibly be installed, connected, and activated in one day. Just small boxes plugged in and connected and they start broadcasting Auracast. Visitors will then be able to hear the announcements at the Airport streamed directly, and in perfect fidelity, directly into their hearing devices. They can even select the language and personalize the volume and many 05/09/2024 Public Comment Non Agenda other features as they choose. This goes for hearing aids, headphones, earbuds, mobile phones, smart watches, TV/Display monitors, microphones, etc. that are Bluetooth 5.2 or newer, or retrofitted. Thank You, Bob Heinbaugh & Paul Hinrichsen - Upper West Side NOrg long-time leadership members and dedicated City volunteers. As two of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organizations, we seek to advance civil rights and social justice by inspiring, advocating, and mobilizing through an inclusive movement that works tirelessly on behalf of those we serve. As such, we would like to applaud the leadership of the Palm Springs City Council for acknowledging the Palm Springs Section 14 survivors and their fight for justice through a public apology in 2021, and by engaging in ongoing negotiations with them to correct the harm caused many decades prior. We encourage the City of Palm Springs and the council to continue discussions that we hope result in a fair and just resolution. Dear Sir/Madame: We are writing to you today as the collective membership of the Pompeii de las Palmas Condominium Association directly adjacent to your on-going development of the Aloe project. We have been in regular contact with the City of Palm Springs and WHCHC over the course of this development and construction while being supportive of the concept and the project. We were led to believe that the development would be only 2 stories (and not 3) and we would have the privacy on our terraces adjacent to the development, and, there would be no line-of- sight directly from our units from the Aloe apartments. We received these assurances from the project's developers. At one time we were offered a tall, mature ficus hedge along the wall adjoining our complex, but we said it didn't seem like it would be necessary in that we were told by the development team that the setback from our complex and modest height of two stories would not result in any line-of-sight incursions into our complex. Having seen the new structure take shape and particularly its height, we are shocked and now saddened at the actuality of what is being built. Our privacy is now also being taken from the inside of our units and our courtyard, not just our terraces, as you can see from the attached pictures. The new tenants will have a direct line-of-sight into our homes. We would never have supported the project had we known what it was to become, and feel that the mature (tall) ficus hedge that was initially offered needs to be planted at our back walls to mitigate the reality of what is being erected. We need to have some concrete solutions addressed by the developers, the City of Palm Springs, the Historic Site Preservation Board and potentially the County of Riverside, to work and plan with us, to mitigate the privacy issues and implement barrier solutions. We need a commitment to solutions very soon that meet everyone's needs. Please contact Steve Fusco in regard to your proposed solutions. His email: smfusco@gmail.com. Weekly our homes is overwhelmed by excessive noise. I am not talking about the kids screaming every day from 9-4pm, but it's the sound system that blares music constantly that resonates through our closed windows and doors into the far reaches of our home where our home offices are. It's soo loud people on calls can here it. Today there is another event featuring garbage trucks, and the loud air horns are being blasted every 2 seconds for the past 2 hours. I called the school and asked politely to knock honk the horn, but they are very dismissive and the honking continues. Trust me I am trying not to be like the PS residents that complain over the smallest thing. and we understand living next to school would have some noise with kids... but the loud music, air horns, DJs and Microphones yelling is making it impossible for us to enjoy our home and work from home. What can we do? Thank you, City of Palm Springs This is an automated message generated by Granicus. Dear Neighbors at Pompeii de las Palmas, Thank you for alerting us to your concerns about privacy mitigation as construction continues at Aloe Palm Canyon. WHCHC values your input and support. As noted, we offered to include mitigating greenery early on in the process, and this component is part of our current landscaping plan. Aloe Palm Canyon includes a landscaped buffer zone along the western property line between your property and our parking area. This landscaped area will include privacy hedges, which, once mature, will maximize greenery and privacy for both you and our residents. Landscaping is typically installed toward the end of the construction phase. Aloe Palm Canyon is a two-story structure; there have been no changes to the project since it was approved. We strive to be good neighbors. WHCHC has a 35+ year history of working with community members through the development process. Please feel free to contact me at (323) 650-8771 x127 or via email at joseph@whchc.org to set-up an onsite meeting or discuss any concerns in more detail. We appreciate you reaching out and look forward to seeing you next year at the Grand Opening celebration, when over 70 senior residents will be settling into their new homes. In July 2022, Council approved an additional $500,000 as matching funds for a state grant. As part of the agreement with the city, both parties – DAP Health and Queer Works – agreed to conduct all financial affairs with transparency and to publicize the community benefits associated with the project. Unfortunately, repeated attempts to obtain information about the monies provided primarily to Queer Works as the lead organization have not given a clear understanding of to whom the funds were paid, and the specific scope of the work completed with each disbursement made by the City. What internal controls and auditing procedures were used to account for all costs pertaining to, and reimbursements provided by the city, for the program’s development and implementation? An audit may have been done, but nothing was shared with the public. Please investigate Thank you, City of Palm Springs This is an automated message generated by Granicus.
