•There are 1,299 total lots locatedwithin our Very High Fire SeverityZone (VHFSZ).
•1254 lots are residential.
•27 lots are City-owned that equal to87 acres.
•18 lots are owned by outsideagencies: Bureau of Indian Affairs,Department of Interior, RiversideCounty Flood Control, and Bureau ofLand Management.

Lot Types
A- Residential lots: Park View S., The Mesa, and The Historic
Tennis Club Neighborhoods.
B-City owned lots: Little Tuscany, Vista Las Palmas, and Old Las
Palmas.
C-Mountainous lots that are unrealistic to clear.
D-Outside agency owned lots.
1.Riverside County Flood Control.
2.Bureau of Indian Affairs.
3.Department of Interior.
4. Bureau of Land Management.
5.Desert Water Agency.
E.Vacant lots outside of our VHFZS. In example, the Prescott
Preserve and Whitewater Club HOA.

Appendix S
Requirements
1.Areas within 200 feet of structures and/or 10 feetof roadside surfaces or combustible fence: Grassshall be cut to three inches in height. Native brushshall be reduced in quantity to three inches in height.This does not apply to individual native shrubsspaced a minimum of 18 feet apart, provided suchshrubs are trimmed up from the ground to 1/3 oftheir height with all dead material being removed(see diagram below).
2.For trees taller than 18 feet, trim lower branchesso no foliage is within six feet of the ground and remove all dead material. For trees and shrubs lessthan 18 feet, remove lower branches to 1/3 of theirheight, and remove all dead material (see diagrambelow).
3. Trees shall be trimmed up so the foliage is nocloser than 10 feet from the outlet of a chimney (seediagram below).
4.All roof surfaces shall be maintained free ofsubstantial accumulation of leaves, needles, twigsand any other combustible matter. Maintain five feetof vertical clearance between roof surfaces andportions of overhanging trees (see diagram below).

Strategy
•Inspection/Education
-Short term plan- Coordinate with Code Complianceto have two inspectors provide inspection/educationservices in our VHFSZ.
•Brush Removal/Labor
-Short term immediate plan- So Cal LandMaintenance will begin brush clearance on Cityowned lots in the VHFSZ starting May 1, 2024.
-Long term plan- RFP for an annual contract for theseservices to be managed by the fire department.
