Christy Holstege’s email response suggested forwarding my email and request to put my concern on the agenda. Thank You, Natalie Murray ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Natalie Murray <murray.natalie11@gmail.com> Date: Fri, Mar 15, 2024 at 2:55 PM Subject: Save The City Park Trees To: <christy.holstege@palmspringsca.gov>, <jeffrey.bernstein@palmspringsca.gov>, <pickleball@palmspringsca.gov> Dear Palm Springs officials- I am writing to you to please implore you not to remove 15 trees to build more pickle ball courts in the Demuth park area. There has to be another way to satisfy building additional Pickleball courts without killing the beautiful trees. And please don’t insult my intelligence by telling me you will plant new trees or these aren’t native trees. The trees deserve to remain unharmed! Thank you for your attention in this matter and I’m sure the kids, the bees, the birds and our CO2 absorption will appreciate it as well. I am writing to ask that you please consider NOT destroying trees, grass and other natural surfaces to build more pickle ball courts in Demuth Park. As a frequent visitor of the park with both dogs and children, I am very worried what the loss of space will mean for those of us who like the outdoor public space as it is. I am also a volunteer at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and frequently walk the dogs through that park. The dogs have so few options for enjoying the outdoors and the park is often the only time they get to feel grass underfoot. There are many, many of us who oppose the building of more concrete slabs for pickleball. Please be sure to take our opinions and needs, in addition to those of the dogs in the shelter into consideration. Thank you. Sent from Susan Drake Homeowner in Plaza Villas I would appreciate if this was read during public comment. For several years, residents in Plaza Villas have been speaking out regarding loud music generating from outdoor events at the conference center and the Renaissance Hotel. These loud music events rattle our windows, glass doors and even dishes in our kitchen cupboards. We have asked for a remedy with no resolution. A few days ago, an outside event steps from our residence, took place at the conference center. We were provided a phone number to report a disturbance, when we called the number no one answered. Basically, the notice was of no help what so ever. I invite each of you to come to our location and see what we experience. It is simply unacceptable. Move the music events indoors. Our condos were built before the conference center and as a council created to support your residents, we expect your help in resolving this issue.
