HomeMy WebLinkAboutRe_ Admin Appeals Board re 3149 E Ventura_Redacted4/20/2023 Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide input and feedback regarding this rental property at 3149 E Ventura Road in Palm Springs. Being contiguous neighbors, we would like to cite examples of why this has been a bothersome rental property to the neighborhood for several years. The following is a sampling of what we have been dealing with over the years: - Several calls/complaints to City re noise, loud music, other renter violations, some resulting in citations, others a warning - One inebriated renter literally voiced to neighbor that he was informed to tell Code Officer he was family and not show ID - Many instances of refuse in our yards, e.g. champagne bottle tops, fireworks, pool toys - One specific instance of a female renter mid-afternoon shouting out, “Let’s mf’ing party, and music began to blare (a citation resulted) - Loud acts of sex being performed in back yard heard by neighbors (was in fact the owners) - Owner going to police station to find out who was complaining to City about her property, then harassing one neighbor accusing them of calling City Next topic, the owner’s failure to adhere to City Rules regarding STR’s. As per attachments, she advertises on Airbnb four bedrooms and nine guests, which is not conforming to Rules, and obviously contributes to the many parties that took place. Secondly, she advertises “No Occupancy Tax,” which is in direct violation of Rule 3.24.050 Operator’s Duties. Over the course of time there have been eight citations issued, so a definite pattern has been established. Additionally, there were instances where warnings only were issued. The last citation on 3/23/23 was issued by Agent Ingram after suspension, which suspension became effective on 2/20/23. So the disregard for City Rules continues as the house is continuing to be rented even after suspension. That clearly violates Rule 5.25.090 Violations, section (c) Hopefully that paints enough of a picture for the Board to see the issues the neighbors have been dealing with for several years now. There are other STR houses around us which are run very professionally and efficiently and create literally no problems whatsoever. Once again, thank you for your time and consideration.
