Dear city clerk. I sent this same message about 2 months ago but received no answer. Kind of disappointed. I recommended that the city of Palm Springs please repaint all the street lanes, left and right hand arrow turns, reflectors so that we can see where the lanes are. Many of the lane markings are dull and faint. Sometimes it's so bad you don't know which your lane your in, Plus it looks like the streets are very dirty. Embarrassing when visitors are here. This would not be expensive because most of the roads are in good condition. It's just the markings look bad. The paint dries very fast and it could be done between 12 AM to 5 AM. Everything is done automatic. This would also give the streets a clean fresh look and make our city look clean. The street markings look very drab. I hope the city council approves the project. Thanks, Joe Yakimow. . 02/08/2024 Public Comment Non Agenda From:Grace Garner To:City Clerk Subject:FW: Flock cameras Date:Wednesday, January 31, 2024 3:51:54 PM From: Scott Connelly <scottdesert@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, January 26, 2024 12:05 PM To: Grace Garner <Grace.Garner@palmspringsca.gov> Subject: Flock cameras NOTICE: This message originated outside of The City of Palm Springs -- DO NOT CLICK on links or open attachments unless you are sure the content is safe. You understand the issues and especially giving neighborhood or HOA individuals access. I hope staff and the other Council members take a look at some of the serious issues here. An individual could use third party software to search the data if they have access to the video. Good luck Scott Connelly Flock Safety is one of the vendors that provides ALPR cameras to HOAs 12. Flock Safety’s cameras can capture and store license plate numbers or information for missing/covered plates, as well as vehicle make, model, color, alterations, and other unique identifying information 3. Flock Safety’s cameras can be integrated with local law enforcement to identify vehicles involved in crimes from retail theft to amber alerts 3. However, there are concerns about the use of ALPRs by HOAs. For instance, some members of a community think that a neighborhood needs increased surveillance in order to be safe, but there is little empirical evidence that such surveillance reduces crime 1. Additionally, there are concerns about privacy and the potential for innocent people to become suspects because they happened to drive through a specific neighborhood 1.
