HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 2B - Letter from ApplicantCouncilmembers City of Palm Springs Dear Council Members, On October 25th, we went before the Planning Commission and received an approval for our proposed Starbucks building at the SEC of Palm Canyon & Racquet Club. At that meeng, concerns were expressed that the project was “drive-through only”, with no pedestrian-oriented service point. On November 6th we also received ARC approval with specific condions, and we are prepared to meet those condions. As with the other Starbucks stores in Palm Springs, we would very much like to be a producve partner with the community, so we have gone back to Starbucks to discuss a proacve response to the concerns that we heard. We have met with the Starbucks representaves, and they have agreed to the following addional features: Pedestrian Friendly 1)A large, covered pao has been added to the building to add tables and chairs for customers to enjoy. 2)A pedestrian walk-up window has been added to the building for pedestrians to walk up and order drinks and food. 3)Bicycle racks have been added to the pao area so bicyclists can ulize the walk-up window and pao areas. 4)The required public restroom has been added to the building as required by the addion of the outdoor pao area. 5)The second drive-through lane has been eliminated to enhance the pedestrian use of the project. Architectural Elements 1)We will be addressing the ARC comments to provide beer arculaon of the building facing North Palm Canyon Drive. 2)We will be adding a “Keep Clear” marking at the entrance of our Drive Through lane to eliminate conflict with the adjacent property owners drive-through exit. To be a good partner, requires being a good listener. We listened to the comments from the Planning Commission, the Architectural Review Commiee, and the community and worked with Starbucks to ensure that the project will be a posive addion to this neighborhood and the enre City. We look forward to working with the City Council and addressing any concerns that remain Regards, Kayman Wong Kaidence Group LLC COFFEE SHOP 1,226 S.F.
