Tahquitz Canyon Way Palm Palm Springs, CA. 92262 (760) 323-8200 - www.palmspringsca.gov Attn: Clerk of the Board/ City Council/General Public Re: Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the October 26, 2023 Palm Springs City Council meeting - Agenda Item: 1-D (ACA-13 / ACA-1 letters) Dear current City Council, This letter is in strong opposition to this political body making ANY recommendations in regards to California's legislative actions. It's been repeatedly demonstrated that actions of City Council do NOT align with City Resident's/Businesses/Guests that fund City operations. It's crystal clear that the current City Council is out of touch with Working-class families and local small businesses. Having (one) City Council members (Middleton) openly discuss Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) bill(s) weeks in advance of having City staff construct a bias assessment (Staff report) in regards to ACA-13 and ACA-1 is extremely alarming. Please consider that both current City Council members (Middleton and Holstege) have announced their ambitions to leave City Council if elected to other State held positions. Common sense dictates that ACA-13 and ACA-1 would harm ALL Californians. Those political amendments if established would "Harm Democracy" - and criticality damage every California taxpayer with Ever-Increasing property taxes and other governmental overreach - California's legislative power grabs shouldn't be supported by a very out-of-touch City Council that doesn't represent the majority of City taxpayer's. California's Proposition 13 as stands, continues to be Strong protection for taxpayers (Home owners) from the money hungry State of California (Palm Springs City Council members). Oppose this overwhelming overreach! Sincerely, 10/26/2023 Public Comment Item 1D Brad Anderson | Rancho Mirage, CA | ba4612442@gmail.com Cc: 10/26/2023 Public Comment Item 1D
