I am asking that the city please repaint all the street markings, such as lane, left turn arrows, reflectors. It really looks bad. Looks like the streets are very dirty. Many places you don't know if you are in the correct lane. It's all faded. the reflectors are all dull.It is not an expensive project and could be done at night. It would make the streets look new and very clean. Visitors would be impressed. You would be able to see the right and left arrows. And know what lane you are in. The city has the money to do this project. Please do it. Thanks, Joe Yakimow. Thank you, City of Palm Springs This is an automated message generated by Granicus. Good Morning: Thank you, again, for all of the hard work that you do, the research you conduct, and the difficult decisions that you make. It’s possible that one of the more controversial matters of your current term may be “What to do about Marilyn.” My impression is that it appears that the decision to place the statue where it is was a last-minute manipulation of the city council that obviated a lot of careful planning (and promises) made by and to a significant number of residents. Indeed, the entire affair reeks of a backroom deal” (or “slap in the face,” as one recent letter writer portrayed it in the Desert Sun). The current location is inappropriate, in my mind, for many well-known reasons, and the city seems to have violated some trust and squandered some good faith in placing it there. The current campaign for an “initiative” is a thinly-veiled attempt to further deceive and manipulate the citizens of Palm Springs. During the 10/26/2023 Public Comment Non Agenda signature gathering campaign, I befriended one of the paid individuals who makes a living gathering signatures for the highest bidder, as it were. A very nice chap, and quite good at his trade, but in conversations with him and watching him interact with others), it was clear that a large amount of deception was occurring. The bottom line is that is seems as though there was no justifiable reason for placing the statue where it sits, and the city seems to be intent on keeping it where it is, regardless of the seeming feckless “path” that brought it there, to begin with. I very strongly oppose (and am offended!) by its presence at its current location, and I believe that it should be relocated to a less controversial setting – maybe even where it was planned and promised(!). I doubt that those responsible for the seeming back room, last-minute decision” will ever apologize or admit to their being manipulated, but that is in the past. Some of your colleagues seem to “hunker down” after poor decisions, rather than admit their mistakes. To be honest, I don’t think you’re that kind of an elected leader. I urge you, for the present (and future) of that streetscape to support moving the statue away from where it currently stands and doing so with vigor and expeditiousness. Good day, Please note that I am voicing my opposition to the proposed drive through Starbucks at N Palm Canyon Racquet Club. This site does not need a drive through coffee.Carl’s Jr,Ddl Taco,7 Eleven and Four Paws are all within shouting distance. Another way to cause traffic nightmares is not wanted. There could be much better retail options to put in this blighted corner. Please oppose this bad decision by the planning commission. Christy, I am a relatively new resident of Palm Springs, moving here in 2021. My wife and I live near Victoria Park with our three year old daughter and eight month old son. We've been excited to throw ourselves into the city, contribute to local government, and be involved as much as possible. Our experience over the past couple years unfortunately is probably best represented by Sunset Park. When we first moved here, we loved taking our daughter -- but we've noticed the park has deteriorated noticeably since then. Here's some specifics: The turtles were removed from the round-ish circular cement area, leaving a depressing empty space that looks like an abandoned pool. Random holes appear around the park -- can't tell if these are animals or what -- but the most recent one was big enough that our daughter could have stood in up to her hips -- I am not joking (and she's a big kid) Trash all over -- the condom wrappers under the play equipment at Ruth Hardy park are bad enough, but Sunset Park is not to be outdone and is often awash in bizarre trash. Last week our daughter found a collection of discarded used tooth brushes and was about to pick them up. There's almost always some kind of plastic trash kicking around, and the areas near the picnic tables seem to be a reliable dumping grounds. And that's just the exact play area of the park itself -- stray a little distance from the equipment and you'll find huge dogs running loose, water fountains which are mostly broken -- a feeling of general abandonment. I think it's worth noting that I am saying nothing about the homeless population which I am not asking anyone to address -- we can address a lot of my issues just by holding things to a level of basic cleanliness and decency. If someone could look after the condition of the park, keep it neat, identify and close up the random burrowing holes / small caves and minimize the spread of bizarre discarded goods, we would be victorious. October 26, 2023 City of Palm Springs City Council / City Hall 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way Palm Springs, CA. 92262 Attn: Clerk of the Board Re: Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the October 26, 2023 Palm Springs City Council meeting, Non Agenda Public Comment Dear Palm Springs City Council, Please consider the statements listed below as a friendly reminder of spoken testimony and written communications that were brought-up at past City Council meetings. 1)The Citys continuous implementation of Californias AB361 - the desires of City Council to dismiss ethical standards and potentially committing fraud is truly shameless. 2)City Council/Administration have discontinued the practice of having a complete Board meeting agenda packet (Best practices) on site and available for the Public that attends City Council meetings In-Person at City Hall (Council Chamber). Members of the Public are now required to obtain their own computer device (smartphone) to "scan" some type of "barcode" to access Public meeting documents (board packet). It's not reasonable to consider that "everyone" that chooses to monitor and or participate in the Peoples business (City Council meetings) have the financial resources to purchase special devices to review Public documents at a Public meeting. Hard copies of All documents that the City Council will review at City Council meetings needs to be made available to anyone (Public) that requests them - without delay. I was refused access to review meeting documents at the City of Palm Springs Council meeting of October 12, 2023. 3)City of Palm Springs has a long practice of deciding to limit Public participation at City Council meetings. Members of the Public that wish to provide Public testimony (verbal comments) are ONLY allowed a total of two (2) minutes of speaking time for the complete meeting agenda (excluding Public hearing topics) and (non-Agenda comments). Limitations on free speech such as Palm Springs City Council have allowed to continue is morally wrong and potentially unlawful. 4)City of Palm Springs have combined All Public testimony (excluding Public hearings and 10/26/2023 Public Comment Non-Agenda Non-Agenda Public comment) into one agenda Item towards the beginning of it's regular City Council meetings. Members of the Public are denied their right to review all verbal testimony of City's Staff or other involved parties and any played videos and or late submitted documents in regards to each agenda Item presented to the City Council before Public speakers are forced to provide Public testimony on desired topics of interest. It's not reasonable to have Public testimony way in advanced (could potentially be a number of hours) before the Council is presented that agenda Item to be Voted on (Public testimony maybe discarded and or forgotten by City Council members). Many times meeting agenda Items are continued or other factors are exposed (such as Council members having to recuse themselves) which illustrates why Public testimony needs to be performed at the time when Council considers each agenda Item. Recorded Public meetings minutes do-not illstrate which agenda Items that each Public speaker had commented in regards too. 5)City of Palm Springs Council have demanded that all Public comments (verbal testimony) will have ONLY two (2) minutes of speaking time on Public hearing topics and two (2) minutes for Non-Agenda Public comment. Also, Public speakers will ONLY be granted Two (2) minutes of speaking time for all other agenda Items. Restricting Public testimony to two (2) minutes without knowing the total number of request to speak on agenda topics is truly unreasonable and may effect different people in an unfair matter. It's reasonable to allow individual speaker's three (3) to five (5) minutes of speaking time and ONLY reduce that time to two (2) minutes if a number of request to speak are assigned to that agenda Item. It's been repeatedly demonstrated that the length (time to complete) of Palm Springs City Council meeting are drectly associated with the City Councils demeanor (slow speech) and the uncertainty of meeting start times. Meeting are offen started late due to "reported" close session topics being discussed (likely combined with supplied (Dinner/snacks) that are trucked in from private vendors) Having scheduled Public meetings delayed for City Council to eat - is unreasonable. Please consider the Public good over the selected special Interests of this (Palm Springs City Council) strive to work for City Residents over the goals of potentially enriched yourselves. Dear City Clerk, please share my below email with the PS Mayor, City Council, City Manager, City Attorney. I just drove back to PS from LA last week via the 60 freeway. I was appalled, as we approached the 10 freeway, at how ugly the huge warehouses are all along the 60 freeway. Please don't allow the approach into Palm Springs to be so unsightly! Please re- consider Mega Warehouses in Palm Springs -- and eliminate the current ordinance allowing them. Thank you. Joan Smith Palm Springs resident and voter. 10/26/2023 Public Comment Non Agenda
