Rabbi Steven Rosenberg
Senior Rabbi Temple Isaiah of Palm Springs
Would like to be heard in the affirmative regarding the purchase of cameras to increase public safety.
Our synagogue has already had to endure multiple antisemitic incidents in the last year, one of which was a possible attack against our temple which
was thwarted by Police. They had told me that more cameras put in strategic locations would have helped in apprehending this individual faster. The
Jewish Community is looking to you, our city council to help keep us safe.
With the war now taking place in Israel, the ADL and FBI have both issued warnings about synagogues and other institutions as possible targets.
Let’s do all we can to keep Palm Springs safe for people of all religions and cultures and orientations.
Respectfully,
Rabbi Steven Rosenberg

Please vote in favor of the license plate recognition request from the PSPD. Anything that will help them do their
work quicker and safer is a benefit to everyone who lives here.
Thank you,

for the October 12, 2023 City Council meeting
Agenda Item: 3-A (proposed agreement for (ALPR) Installation/service contract)
Dear Palm Springs City Council,
In Opposition to the expansion of Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system in the
Palm Springs region.
Please oppose the radical surveillance of "everyone" that will drive the Streets of Palm
Springs, California with the use of (ALPR's). It's more than reasonable to consider that any
and all data (license plate number/car type/and other Identifiers) that will be collected has a
high likelihood of being monitored and retained by other City partners (State and federal
government agencies).
30 day retention of stored data that cycles every 30 days would still give much desired metrics
to government agencies and other institutions - such data is much to valuable to abide by City
resolution -
The Great State of California had many incidents of approved and NOT approved sharing of
private citizens Information. Plus the hacking and Illegal activities surrounding data collection
of criminal elements.
Palm Springs tourism industry has contractors that collect cell-phone use within this region to
predict special Interests in regards to many "money making" metrics in relation to that
organization. Public Streets and Public resources (monies) are not intended to be use for
surveillance of the Public's movements in real time with Automated License Plate Recognition
(ALPR) systems.
Protecting the privacy and Civil liberties of Palm Springs community member's would never
mean having the ability to easily monitor vehicles movement and obtaining their private
Individuals identities while they are traveling Palm Springs City Streets.
"Sensitive" Information (According to Palm Springs Policies) would include vehicle travel to
"Abortions/LGBTQ activities and Immigration issues". It's been repeatedly demonstrated that

Current City Council members have encourages visitors to come for medical procedures and
other non-approved federal government policies.
It's only reasonable to consider that Any and All Visitors/Resident's that drive within the City
limits will have their movements montoired and forever retained (govermental agencies).
Tourism to the Palm Springs region will decrease once the Information becomes known of the
"over reach" of Palm Springs City officials (Police Department/City Council) to "Watch"
where each vehicle travels throughout the region of Palm Springs including locations such as
(questionable Night clubs/Medical complexes/Churches ect).
The (ALPR) system has already been suspected in the criminal prosecution of Political
representatives. Along with traffic stops of legally driven vehicles (suspiciously the occupies
were detained - for non-vehicle incidents) such a system will ONLY help the corrupted to
expand their misused of California Residents and Visitors to the Palm Springs region of
Southern California.
Car rental companies and vehicle leasing agencies appear to be the benefactors with (ALPR)
systems.
Please opposed this "Over Reach"
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270

Re license plate recognition cameras. I support the implementation of this program. Privacy and profiling concerns
aside, this will aid our police force in keeping our city safe. We should join with the other CV cities in identifying bad
actors who come into our community. Thank you.
Thank you,
City of Palm Springs
