Good afternoon. I sent the following email to Christy Holstege, but I understand it should have been sent to this address instead. Is it possible to have the board see this? Thank you.... Stephen Johnstone From: Stephen Johnstone <stephen_johnstone@hotmail.com> Sent: Monday, June 12, 2023 1:50:51 PM To: christy.holstege@palmspringsca.gov <christy.holstege@palmspringsca.gov> Subject: Really loud music all weekend from the Saguaro Hi there. I live on Andee Drive 92264, behind the Saguaro Hotel. They have had music events in the past that were loud but this last weekend it was off the charts. It was intolerable. My walls were vibrating. This went on well past midnight on Saturday night. A person working at the checkout at Ralph's told me the vibration from the music was making work there a misery. We were given the name of an event organiser, Darren. He turned out to be slimy and condescending. Surely there are city-imposed limits to the volume. I urge you to send city representatives to measure the sound at various times. There is no doubt that any reasonable limits are being exceeded. If organizers are telling you otherwise, they are not being truthful. Thanks... Stephen Johnstone. I have noticed in the past that several of my email requests and comments "go nowhere." There has been no response of acceptance or follow up. I may be wasting my time in writing yet another email.... I will keep this short. Splash House has no business being held in a heavily populated neighborhood of family residences and condos. This past weekend was a blatant dismissal of our rights to not be subjected to the heavy vibrations of amp'd up bass, over the top DJ voices, incredibly LOUD music, and the trash and trespassing of many residences by attendees. This does not even begin to address the unsupervised partying taking place on the surrounding streets and volume of drunk groups threatening the safety of pedestrian traffic or neighborhood cars. Calls to the police did little to nothing to tame any of these behaviors. Golden Voice could care less about how this largely, younger group of people and their behaviors, especially influenced by substances and liquor, affect the safety and enjoyment of the residents who have chosen to call this their home. A call was placed today to City Hall to our neighborhood district rep. When my neighbor asked to speak to this individual, they were told it would do no good as she doesn't really care. Afterall, she is focused on winning the State Assembly position. Shameful! Its time to start addressing the rights of the people who live here full time, support our businesses and communities, and deserve to not be subjected to a large scale, greed driven enterprise like Golden Voice. One way is to restore the Pride Flag that once graced the crosswalk at Amado and North Palm Canyon in Downtown. You can see the remnants of what was once a visual statement of inclusion for the City of Palm Springs, alas one that has almost disappeared. PALM SPRINGS MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL 2 I strongly urge you again to restore this symbol of gay rights in support of the City's human rights goals. The way to counter hate is to be equally vociferous in support. Your time and consideration are most appreciated. June 1st, 2023 Letter to Mayor and Palm Springs Council I am writing to express my deep concern for the way Oswit Land Trust is mismanaging the process of converting the golf course into a ‘preserve’. Jane Garrison has not followed proper procedure in purchasing the land. She has made changes to the land without approvals and she has not involved the Mesquite owners who have a valid lease on the land. She completely ignores her legal obligations to the City and the lease holders. She has recently, for the very first time, presented on a zoom call to owners, many lies and half truths about the purchase of the land and her plans for it. Our HOA is required by law to protect our legal rights. They are doing this by making Oswit agree to the terms of our lease or negotiate new terms that the owners would then vote on amending. She has zero interest in doing anything that changes her vision. Her vision now includes coyotes moving into the area and setting up residence. One of our Mesquite owners on the edge of the preserve had a bobcat sitting calmly on their patio. That is so unacceptable in an area that has 600 homeowners and a large school on the border. We are also concerned about the real possibility of an uncontrollable fire. There is so much dry tinder from the area not being maintained or watered that if any of it caught fire, it would spread so quickly. In California Insurers are now refusing to insure properties that are in high- risk fire areas. That could be us. We are not asking for the return of a golf course, although that would be my preference, but that Oswit be held legally accountable to maintain the land according to the Golf Ordinance. This will require a legal agreement not promises and handshakes as Jane Garrison is not to be trusted. The City of Palm Springs needs to support this legal process and ensure she does not proceed without the proper agreements and permits in place. Thank you for your consideration and for your service to our community. Beth Christopher homeowner at Mesquite Golf and Country Club. 06/05/2023 Public Comment Non Agenda Item
