AN APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF “THE SECURITY FIRST NATIONAL BANK” LOCATED AT 500 SOUTH INDIAN CANYON DRIVE, (APN #508-121-001), CASE HSPB #137 To: Mayor Grace Elena Garner, Mayor Pro Tem Jeffrey Bernstein, Councilmembers Ron deHarte, Christy Gilbert Holstege, and Lisa Middleton. Greetings from the Neighborhoods of Warm Sands and Baristo! As you may know, the aforementioned Landmark is within the great Warm Sands Neighborhood. We are delighted that The Security First National Bank, now Union Bank, is receiving its due recognition. We therefore support the Recommendation of 2.C., “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING “THE SECURITY FIRST NATIONAL BANK” LOCATED 500 SOUTH INDIAN CANYON DRIVE, AS A CLASS 1 (LANDMARK) HISTORIC RESOURCE HSPB #137, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS (APN 508-121-001).” We note that, as the bank’s traffic entrance is on Ramon Road, and as Ramon Road forms the border between the Warm Sands and Baristo Neighborhoods, that the Baristo Neighborhood joins with Warm Sands in supporting this Recommendation.
