Dear City Council and Staff, RE: 2023-04-14 City Council Agenda Item 3B – Airport Logo. Just my opinion (a lifetime passionate art and architecture enthusiast). At first, I really liked the latest iteration. Then I posted on Nextdoor how much I really liked it. Quickly, I received a lot of support, as well as a bit of noise, but also some interesting valuable constructive comments. The most interesting comment shared was a color selection chosen in a similar logo (shown below), which I think the colors are more inspired and livelier than the latest PSP logo, and suspect it would likely sustain that feeling and impression throughout the years. Yes, I’ve read the reasoning behind the colors chosen, and believe that reasoning will be lost on 99.9% of those who see it. The latest logo design I give a strong A+, the colors I give a strong B+. With an adjustment to the colors to be more like in station WFYI’s logo, I would give it an A+ with no other changes other than the color choice adjustment. The design team did an excellent job, just a little adjustment to color will make it a standout. Maybe a capital P and S in Palm Springs, but not a sticking point at all, and the font is clear and easy to read, good choice. Kudos! “Design Matters” – local slogan Thank you for reading, Paul Hinrichsen – Upper West Side NOrg leadership member. It could be the logo for any airport in the country and does nothing to capture the uniqueness and beauty of Palm Springs. Retiring the current logo in favor of the proposed would be a terrible mistake. Thank you. Thank you, City of Palm Springs This is an automated message generated by Granicus. Thank and dismiss the team. The current logo is far superior to their bland, anywhere USA proposal. Sure, it captures the concept of flight, but to where? And that typeface says nothing about our town’s fun and playful spirit. “Yawn”—the proposal is so “of the moment” that it will be dated in 15 minutes. And it will look worse Xeroxed into black and white. Dear Mayor Garner. I would like to voice my opinion on the PSP logo. I like the current one and most of the residents I talk with like the current one. It is part of our history just like our classic homes are. Please keep it. Thank you George Gosselin 2381 04/10/2023 Public Comment Item 3B
