HomeMy WebLinkAbout3C - Public Comment 12/05/2022 City of Palm Springs City Council Oswit Land Trust (OLT) is a non-profit 501c3 land trust dedicated to the conservation of open space and critical wildlife habitat within the greater Coachella Valley area. We represent over 5,000 residents in the Coachella Valley who are invested in our efforts to conserve land, protect wildlife, and mitigate the effects of climate change on a local level. We are concerned for the future of the properties known as Boulders and Crescendo if the city chooses to designate them as “surplus land.” To be declared surplus implies the land is no longer of necessary use to the city and is therefore susceptible to sale or other disposal. These properties are critically important to the endangered peninsular bighorn sheep, mountain lions, bobcats, migratory birds and other wildlife as well as the preservation of open space and hillside views that welcome visitors and residents alike to Palm Springs. Oswit Land Trust would again like to urge the council to committing these properties to conservation, preserving them as open space, and protecting the spectacular habitat found at Palm Springs’ most picturesque entry point. The OLT team is open to further discuss the importance of these properties & granting them conservation status at any time. Please contact myself and/or OLT Executive Director Jane Garrison at paisley@oswitlandtrust.org, jane@oswitlandtrust.org. Jane can additionally be reached by calling 843-343-8887. Thank you.
