Each of the submitted firearms was examined for safe function and then test -fired. The firearms' safety features
functioned properly and the trigger pull values were as follows:

With the exception of the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun, the trigger pull findings are within the ranges
reported for those makes and models of firearms in the Trigger Pull Data Search database of trigger pull values.
The trigger pull value for Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun was slightly higher than two similar guns
ported in the database. Each of the Remington shotguns holds four 2 3/4 inch, 12 gauge, shotshells in its
,abular magazine. The two magazines submitted with the Sig Sauer pistol (items 0678956 and 0678958) hold
seven cartridges each and fit that pistol properly. The three magazines submitted with the Heckler & Koch
MP5 submachine gun (two in item 0678961 and one in item 0678963) hold 31 cartridges each and fit that
firearm properly. Each of the firearms was test -fired using Laboratory am -munition and each functioned
properly. The Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun functioned properly in both semi -automatic and full -
automatic modes.
The expended 9mm Luger caliber cartridge case in item 0678962 was compared microscopically to the test -
fired cartridge cases from the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun. While the cartridge cases appeared
generally similar, there were insufficient reproducible markings on them for identification. The MP5
submachine gun may or may not have fired the expended cartridge case in item 0678962.
Items 0678960, 0678961, 0678962, and 0678963 were returned to the submitting agency on June 23, 2005. The
remaining items will be returned to the submitting agency. The test -fired bullets and cartridge cases will be
retained at the Laboratory.
