Home My WebLink AboutParks and Recreation Commission - PresentationParks and Recreation Commission Update Jerry Alcorn, Chair June 21, 2022 Parks & Recreation Commission Accomplishments •Recreation Department kept ongoing programs running smoothly with many special events achieved •Met with pickleball community and conducted a survey to get feedback about their needs •Conducted a dog park survey to get suggestions for improvement Parks & Recreation Commission Accomplishments •Created a new archery program •Worked with Facilities to plant 88 trees in three parks •Playground resurfacing complete Parks & Recreation Commission Accomplishments •New Restrooms completed or in-progress at Sunrise Park, Demuth Park, Desert Highland Park (Mid-Summer completion expected) •Demuth Community Center HVAC and ADA rehabilitation underway Parks & Recreation Commission Goals •Pavilion upgrades: new sound system to improve acoustics •New Parks & Recreation Director starting soon- looking forward to working together •Want to give the New Parks & Recreation Director time to understand the city and its needs before tackling a Parks Master Plan •Want to create a consistent and fair pathway for new program ideas to come to Parks & Recreation •Looking forward to working with Measure J to improve facilities and parks THANK YOU!
