Why was it not put on a ballot for the citizens of Palm Springs to vote on . Sure you have no problems taking our money for taxes. That money could be used for more city improvements. Homeless people stand on the meridian on Gene Autry rd and Vista Chino one of them almost was hit today dodging traffic to get to someone who was handing them some money. We need more police presence patrolling areas. Use the money to fund the police. Blind eyes by city council to robberies, homelessness. Stop catering to the gay community and use our taxpayer money where it's needed. Stop discriminating! Our voices count too. Many citizens of PalmSprings are not gay. Tired of hearing "if you are not gay then you are homophobic" by gay people. We are all diversified citizens of different backgrounds, beliefs and should have equal rights. Consider Bipartisan judgement. Thank you. Irene Gillespie Thank you, City of Palm Springs This is an automated message generated by Granicus. Hi, I have lived in Palm Springs all my life. This is by far the worst I have ever seen Palm Springs. The vagrants, and drug addiction situation is out of control. I am a single mother with a 10 year old son. I currently live in Escena. I love to go out, and I do my best to shop and dine out at our local restaurants. This unfortunately is becoming impossible to do. There are vagrants everywhere. My son, when we are driving around points out all the drug addicts at every corner and bus stop. We can’t walk the downtown anymore, because my son almost picked up a needle the other day. This morning I was approached right outside orange theory, and felt extremely unsafe. This is gone far enough and can not be ignored. These people are not homeless, they are drug addicts, and criminals. If I drive to Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert it is like another world. They don’t seem to have any of these issues. I am begging you to stop enabling these vagrants and do the right thing. Get them out of our CITY. Otherwise we won’t have a city for much longer, and turn into Venice Beach. Tourists are already starting to see the issues and they will stop coming. Maggie J Scott psmjscott@gmail.com (760) 799-4134 4/21/2022 Public Comment Item Non Agenda I recently noticed my PSDS quarterly bill increased and requested PSDS to provide the rate card for trash (brown), blue (recyclable), and green (yard). I discovered PSDS does not have a clear ID# or description to verify 96 gallon cart vs a 65 gallon cart. A customer can't tell the actual size. How could a customer reconcile their actual physical cart is the correct gallon size billed by PSDS? I called PSDS and they indicated they would have to send a crew member out to verify. This isn't the appropriate governance. I have PSDS tell me what size the cart is without any clear markings. It certainly opens up a huge loophole to allow PSDS to charge for higher cost cart without any check and balance verification. I am a full time resident and homeowner in the Desert Park Estates neighborhood. Palm Springs City Council voted last year to cancel the 4th of July fireworks due to the "additional trauma to veterans and pets" Why was the permit approved to allow fireworks for the White Party? Why was the "additional trauma to veterans and pets" ignored for this event? While the White Party was allowed to have a permit for a fireworks show, the hypocrisy of the City Council was on full display for the residents to see. Dear Ms. Lomeli, My name is Ector Simpson. I am the Volunteer Coordinator at Mizell Center. I’m writing to invite you to make brief opening remarks at an important program we’re producing as part of Mizell Center’s 3rd Wednesday Speaker Series. The 3rd Wednesday Speaker Series presents noted speakers in the arts, academia, music, politics and culture. The program was launched in September, 2021. From the onset, we have sought to present programs that engage and reflect the diverse constituents within the older adult community. The series has been extremely well received and developed an amazing community following. Preserving Everyone’s Right to Vote is the topic of our Wednesday, May 18, 2022 program. The program will explore how the right to cast a ballot is foundational to American Democracy. Participation in the democratic process means preserving everyone’s right to vote. The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert is serving as the Event Co-sponsor. I look forward to hearing back from you and, hopefully, welcoming you to Mizell Center on Wednesday, May 18th. .
