BACKGROUND: At their meeting of January 15, 2020, the City's Public Arts Commission approved funding of a $60,000 Community Grant program for neighborhood associations and business districts, with a goal to connect artists with businesses, and provide a sense of community experience during the COVID-19 social distancing. As part of that grant program, the Commission desires to commence a temporary window art project, working with local businesses and local artists to beautify storefronts and create visual interest along Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives. Three artists have been selected and have submitted proposals for Council's consideration, as shown in Attachment 1. The proposed project locations are: • Angel View Thrift Store, 454 N. Indian Canyon Drive • El Mirasol Restaurant, 140 E. Palm Canyon Drive • FKA Banducci's Restaurant, 1260 S. Palm Canyon Drive Using a local print vendor, the selected art images will be printed on vinyl window film and installed at each location. The window film is designed to have longevity in the desert heat and can be easily de-installed.
