Home My WebLink About1CCITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT DATE: FEBRUARY 24, 2022 CONSENT CALENDAR SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT NO. 6 TO THE ALLOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 FROM: Justin Clifton, City Manager BY: Jeremy Hammond, Deputy City Manager SUMMARY: The City Council will consider an amendment to the current fiscal year Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan, which would result in a salary range change for the Fire Chief. RECOMMENDATION: 1.Adopt Resolution No. ______, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 6 TO THE ALOOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022, ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 24912.” 2.Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: As part of the ongoing analysis of the organization and the executive leadership team, the City Manager is proposing to augment the salary range for the position of Fire Chief. After completing a salary survey for this classification, it was discovered that the salary range is more closely tied to the Chief of Police in many of the jurisdictions with which we have historically compared. It is recommended that the City Council authorize the salary range change for the Fire Chief to EX4 89. Staff recommends that the City Council approve amending the FY 2021-2022 Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan by adjusting the salary range for the classification of Fire Chief. FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient funding is available in the current fiscal year budget. No additional appropriation from General Fund Balance is required.
