would like to address the Council on Item "O" - the Rim Road project.
Speaking for the Araby Cove Neighborhood Organization (to whom I reached out a few days ago),
would like to present a brief summary of resident concerns and suggestions about this project,
including
1. There is a clear need for adequate and safe resident, commercial and emergency access at all
times, particularly during periods of Indian Wash flooding and heavy tourist parking at the Araby Trail
lot. We are concerned that our original requests may have grown into something much larger.
2. Improvement and maintenance of Rim Road - the most important to us
Smooth surface vs. current "washboard" - the surface is in dire need of resurfacing
Uphill and downhill reinforcement and stability - we live in fear of flood washout from both uphill
and downhill erosion
Widen for structural integrity only, not two full traffic lanes
Ongoing, regular maintenance
3. Safety issues - There are two blind curves: (1) 2051 Rim with a curved traffic mirror in place, which
needs to be maintained regularly,
(2) south of Araby Trail parking which should also have such a mirror; add turnouts and
retaining/"garden" walls to catch falling debris - which should be cleaned out regularly.
4. Suggest that City obtain clear and permanent right-of-way and ability to maintain Rim Road -
eminent domain?
5. 1 have requested to City Services (via the City website, RattleTech.com), multiple times over the
last 6 months, that the flood -gate at the north end or Rim Road be repaired. Please do so.
have heard from the Rimrock NOrg that they support these ideas, as well,
Thank you I -?,I-U 2Z
