HomeMy WebLinkAbout5BCITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT DATE: January 13, 2022 NEW BUSINESS SUBJECT: REVIEW OF THE ROSTER OF CITY COUNCIL SUBCOMMITTEES, LIAISONS, AND REPRESENTATIVES TO EXTERNAL ORGANIZATIONS FROM: Justin Clifton, City Manager BY: Anthony J. Mejia, City Clerk RECOMMENDATION: 1.Provide direction on changes to the roster of City Council subcommittees, liaisons, and representatives to external organizations. 2. Authorize the City Clerk to prepare and execute FPPC Form 806, Public Official Appointments. STAFF ANALYSIS: The City Council routinely appoints Councilmembers to serve on standing or ad hoc subcommittees, or individual Councilmembers may volunteer to serve as liaisons to study various topics. The City Council also appoints representatives to external organizations as needed. On an annual basis, the City Council reviews the roster of appointments and makes adjustments as necessary. Under California Code of Regulations (CCR) § 18702.5, before a public official may participate in a decision or vote to appoint themselves to a compensated position, the local agency must post a form established by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) on the City’s website. Staff recommends the City Council adopt and direct that FPPC Form 806 be updated and posted as required. FISCAL IMPACT: None. REVIEWED BY: City Clerk: Anthony J.
