Mayor Pro-tem Middleton,
I am writing as a full-time resident concerned about noise disturbances.
As a member of the Noise Ordinance Review Working Group I feel the
group has produced a fully reviewed, paper on our priorities for the Noise
Ordinance in the city of Palm Springs. This group has worked for the last
three years, meeting monthly to discuss, review and revise our research on
noise issues from other cities and countries. You have received a copy of
our final paper on this topic as approved through One -PS
I sincerely hope you are a supporter of fair and consistent noise
ordinances that protect and give relief to all neighborhoods and residents
from the constant bass driven music from outdoor events and businesses.
The last two weekends have been filled with loud music throughout the
community. However the Saguaro event which is not part of Pride was
constant drum beat and bass especially loud all day Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday night Smoke Tree Ranch also had a function in which the
drumming traveled to my home which is over five blocks and across busy
and loud Highway 111 from the Ranch. It stops at ten O'clock but is
extremely nerve wracking hearing the drum beat for hours. Music
anywhere is for the people attending the event and can easily be heard on
the site. There is no need for the sound to travel blocks away.
My neighbors and I called the police on both events and were told the
sound was in compliance. Perhaps the measurement did not measure the
bass or were not taken away from the event sites?
I thank you for your time and hope I can count on you to put Noise
Ordinances among your top priorities.
Deepwell Neighborhood resident
