Education and to solicit input from the community Identify “neighborhoods,”“communities of interest,” and “secondary areas.” Initial deadline for draft maps Deadline for the public to submit draft maps for inclusion in the next hearing packet and presentation Release draft maps Draft maps posted to project website Public Hearings (post-map) (2) Public Hearings to discuss and revise or adopt the draft map(s) Map adoption Map adopted via ordinance or resolution. Final map must be posted at least 7 days prior to adoption.May happen at Hearing 4. Following tonight’s hearing, BB&K will begin drawing maps for consideration at the 2nd Public Hearing. Sources of Information July 28, 2021 15 Demographic data Staff expertise Public input Timeline & Next Steps July 28, 2021 16 The prisoner-adjusted census data was released by the state on September 20, 2021. Three additional public hearings must be held before the Council may vote on a proposed final boundary map. The approved map must be submitted to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters no later than April 17,2022. November 4,2021 1st public hearing Held prior to the release of draft maps December 9, 2021 2 nd p ublic hearing Release and consideration of draft maps December 13-17, 2021 Community Workshops January 15, 20255 Deadline for the public to submit draft maps for consideration at 3rd public hearing January 27, 2022 3rd public hearing to review publicly submitted maps and consider input from workshops February 10, 2022 4th public hearing to discuss and select the top (3) maps for further consideration February 28 –March 4, 2022 Community Workshops in 5 Districts –if necessary March 14, 2022 5th public hearing –introduction of Ordinance to approve final maps April 17, 2022 City deadline to adopt ordinance after 2nd reading (effective immediately) and to submit map to Registrar of Voters November 2022 2022 election
