CHAMBER SURVEY COMMENTS
•I dine in Palm Springs BECAUSE of the mandates. Everywhere I went in Europe this summer had mandates and their economies seem to be doing fine. Many countries’ vaccine mandates required to eat even outside. It’s not hard to show proof of vaccination, no harder than showing ID to a bar or a beer garden. Just a routine way of life for them now and was no big deal for us as visitors.
•The Palm Springs Wastewater testing shows an upward trending amount of virus load. The amount of virus in circulation in Palm Springs is significant. Don't let your guard down now. We've all worked too hard to forget to be careful now.
•Sewer is not a 100% measure as we have tons of people come from outside Thursday through Sunday. WE NEED to revive our economy instead of Killing Them Softly!
•These mandates will shut down the businesses that fought hard to stay afloat. Sad that it’s a vax vs nonvaxed society! The vaxed still get covid y’all! We will all have it eventually like the flu! So sad that we all are being pinned against each other.
•What may impact businesses negatively is if the mandates are removed prematurely and customers don't feel comfortable being in a business w/unmasked and unvaccinated patrons. I think businesses know this and would prefer the mandates to fall back on rather than lose potential customers or have chaos break out amongst masked patrons calling out unmasked patrons or the business for not enforcing.
•Those proof of vaccination requirements are what make us willing to go to Palm Springs restaurants and bars. Too bad gyms weren't included from the beginning.
•As far as showing proof, I have no issue with that. I do not think it is political. I am honored to show that I care for my fellow humans who have underlining health issues and am willing to do my part to protect them and myself. I am willing to put human lives ahead of money.
•We are vaccinated but not supporting mandates.
•I can't imagine anyone enjoys having to continue all these routines with masks and proof of vaccinations. However, that said,we are doing it because we're still in a public health crisis. We all hope for an end to it all sooner rather than later. These routines are the best tools we have to get to the end of the tunnel sooner.
