revenue from college than thru passport program; 6/98 started program, expected to raise
$300,000, have raised over $600,000; many colleges wanting to come on board;
businesses in town are starting to send employees; are using the multi purpose room for
classroom; have met with Fire Chief , Sheriff’s Office and PD to possibly hold training
classes in lieu of traveling to the Ben Clark Center in Riverside; 12/98-State Librarian has
committed to fund the program to a significant level in 1999; relationships with
Pepperdine, Stanford; CalState is strong; looking at providing some type of courses
related to hotel management; plans for future exceed expectations; currently Barnes and
Kleindienst serve on advisory committee.
Hodges, no questions but want to say exciting program, have attended one class, will
attend more.
Librarian stated are looking into Saturday class availability also; keeping track of interest

Milt Levinson, Board pleased with program and with Librarian.
Barnes: Any forthcoming grants?
Librarian, yes, only have 12 workstations now, want 24; need a full-time person to start
coordinating program; all has been funded thru grants, want to continue trend; need to
stay abreast of current technology; are offering some scholarships; are looking at one
time offerings for certain classes; want to keep agreements between City and Colleges
flexible as possible to allow movement.
