City Attorney Report on Matters Discussed in Closed Session-See Page 2 of Agenda this date. D. PUBLIC COMMENTS - The following persons stated support for the Palm Springs Film Festival, and the pre-planning and marketing efforts: Aftab Dada, Hilton Hotel, Palm Springs Charlie, Palm Springs Ed Sweetech, Riviera Hotel, Palm Springs Linda Forte, Palm Springs Tourism Christy Lane, Palm Springs, stated support for the Roof Committee Report regarding Mesquite Canyon Estates, and also provided document prepared by Law Office of Ronald D. Steinbach, regarding replacing wood shake roofs; see copies attached. E. COUNCIL COMMENTS/QUESTIONS/REPORTS Councilmembers commented on various civic functions attended. F. CITY MANAGER COMMENTS G. STUDY SESSION 1. MOUNTAINGATE COMMUNITY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT City Manager withdrew the item. 2. COMMUNICATIONS MASTER PLAN a) Budget Task Force City Manager withdrew the item. 3. PROCLAMATION PROCESS City Manager withdrew the item. 4. PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DEBRIEFING The following persons spoke in support of the City providing financial help with the Film Festival in the amount of $200,000, in addition to the $150,000 already provided; and asked that in the future the full $350,000 be right on the budget, so not to have to come and ask for funds every year: (See attached material) Harold Matzner, Palm Springs John Wessman, Palm Springs Lee Goodsell, Palm Springs Earl Greenburg, Palm Springs Mitch Levine, Palm Springs David Baron, Palm Springs Councilmember Reller-Spurgin stated that the City Manager should just find the money, and put the item on an agenda. Mayor Kleindienst suggested alternative ways of funding the request, and requested assistance from staff in this endeavor. Council consensus was that the Film Festival is vital to the tourism industry of Palm Springs, and that staff should provide more information regarding funding the request. ADJOURN
