We were alarmed to see the test results from April 19 and 20 that
showed a significant spike in COVID virus in the wastewater
Tuesday, April 13, 2021 = 19,824 (174 cases)
Monday, March 29, 2021 = 12,446 (120 cases)
As compared to:
Tuesday, April 20, 2021 = 313,883 (2,178 cases)
Monday, April 19, 2021 = 151,593 (1,112 cases)
Test results from April 26 and 27 showed a significant drop in COVID
virus in the wastewater consistent with test results of April 12/13
Tuesday, April 27, 2021 = 8,250 (129 cases)
Monday, April 26, 2021 = 8,914 (43 cases)
As compared to week prior of:
Tuesday, April 20, 2021 = 313,883 (2,178 cases)
Monday, April 19, 2021 = 151,593 (1,112 cases)
We requested GT Molecular to review the samples from April 19/20
and confirm test results.
They verified incorrect test results and revised the data:
Tuesday, April 20, 2021 = 9,320 (82 cases)
Monday, April 19, 2021 = 15,599 (152 cases)
Now shows consistent gradual decrease in COVID virus in
the community

We are testing for presence of 2 mutations found in UK Variant, with
these mutations also in other hyper-transmissible Variants.
Samples from April 19/20 detected mutations consistent with
Brazilian Variant as well as UK Variant
Samples from April 26/27 showed dramatic drop in presence of
mutations consistent with Brazilian Variant, with continued presence
of UK Variant
X
Di . gr .· m provided by GT ·.. olecu~ar
The presence of both of these mutations is a strong indicator that the
UK and Brazilian Variants are circulating in the City.
It is important to remain vigilant and continue to use face masks when
required, maintain social distancing and other measures to prevent the
spread of COVID EVEN AS WE REOPEN OUR ECONOMY AND GET
VACCINATED.
