Mayor Holstege, Mayor Pro Tern Middleton, City Councilors,
Thank you for the opportunity to provide comment on Legislative Item 3B. My name is Lauren
Niehaus, Government Relations Specialist for Harvest Health & Recreation Inc.
Holdings of Harvest, operating as Harvest of Palm Springs, located at 312 N. Palm Canyon Drive,
wishes to express our support for Council's consideration of amending the ordinance to allow
adult-use cannabis businesses to place visible cannabis goods and graphics in dispensaries.
Consistent with the California Bureau of Cannabis Control's allowance for dispensaries to visibly
display cannabis goods and display graphics depicting cannabis goods visible from the exterior
of the premises, we appreciate the consideration to make the Palm Springs ordinance
consistent with this particular state regulation. Despite the popularity of medical and adult use
cannabis, operators in Palm Springs continue to struggle due to considerations such as
dispensary location and the multitude of dispensaries that operate in close proximity to one
another in the city. Allowing for responsible, tasteful cannabis visuals to be visible from exterior
windows will allow for patrons to more easily identify cannabis dispensaries, driving traffic into
these retail stores for shopping.
We appreciate the efforts that the City Council and staff have undertaken to create a successful
cannabis program in the city.
Thank you for your consideration,
Lauren Niehaus
