Although I welcome the space being occupied the use should be compatible with the neighborhood. There is a reason the city has a long standing noise ordinance that prohibits amplified music after 1 0:00pm. This use would seem to go well beyond the parameters of that ordinance. As you know my employer, Lars Viklund, has spent millions of dollars restoring boutique hotels that directly border the proposed use. People at the historic Del Marcos Hotel, the 350 Hotel and La Serena Villas are literally sleeping right beside this proposed disco .. These three properties contribute thousands of dollars in yearly TOT tax revenue to the city. They also employ over 75 local residents and their families. Our staff already have to deal with noise complaints from our guests regarding the Village Pub when they open the doors to their patio or when patrons walk to their cars. Adding another source of loud, amplified music with a thudding base line is very concerning even if the music is only indoors. When the doors open how much sound escapes? How many patrons can this large space accommodate? I urge you to remove this item from the consent calendar and allow the community to participate in a public hearing regarding this controversial and potentially damaging use. We do not want another Zelda's or Village Pub on our doorstep with a loud, drunken crowd exiting into the parking lot at 2:00am. If you can kindly confirm receipt of this email and if the item will be discussed at tonight's meeting or on a future agenda. Thanks for all you do for our district and the city. As long term residents, we have seen the growth of the City as well as the trouble with bars like Zelda's nightclub which brought crime, drugs, guns and violence. Finally after years of the Palm Springs Police limited to what they could do with an uncooperativ~ nightclub operator, FINALLY the City shut that club down after much resident outcries. This is not what we want in our community! We choose this new community to get away from the noise, crime fast driving cars at 2:00AM. If we wanted that type of atmosphere and/or area we would have moved 2 years ago to downtown PS where there are many restaurants, clubs and bars. Let's not make another big mistake and be short-sighted!! WE DO NOT WANT a bar, night club or liquor license establishment in this location. Please keep these types of establishments downtown where they belong. Thank you for your consideration.
