PSHS Caravan Proposal
Good morning! My name is Dezirey Blodgett, I am ASB Junior Class President at Palm Springs High School, and I would
just like to take a moment of your time. With the current pandemic, students have been unable to participate in normal
school activities for over a year, i.e. sports, dances, arts performances, and more. Students have been more than
cooperative with the Distance Learning program set in place to allow us to continue our education even from home, but
we all need time outside. I personally have only seen a few friends on 3 separate occasions throughout this entire time
we have been out of school. People need contact, and not just online, but physically seeing each other is better for
people, especially for students. Many students are struggling with their mental health because they are isolated every
day and all day due to this pandemic.
We at Palm Springs High School would simply like to ask for help on funding a caravan we would like to have. As we
were unable to hold our annual Homecoming Parade in October, we would like to hold a caravan on April 14th as a
smaller Homecoming Parade (just without floats or a large audience), along with a separate caravan for the Seniors at
the end of the school year in June. The caravan will allow students to see one another in a controlled environment, and
get out of the house to participate in something fun. We are currently running low on funding because we are unable to
have fund raisers or we have very low participation outcomes, so it is very difficult for us to raise money this year. While
we are trying our best to raise as much as we can for ASB as a whole and for each individual class, we would very much
appreciate some financial support.
Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

Request for Funds
My name is Kristen and I am a senior class member of the Palm Springs High School ASB. As you know,
this past year has been very difficult for everyone, including us high school students. Through
distanced learning, we have lost touch with our peers, lost motivation, and us seniors have missed out
on what is supposed to be the most rewarding of our entire 12 years in the public education system.
We have also lost the opportunity to raise funds for events, as well as have events. I am asking you to
please consider providing funding to allow for us to create a homecoming caravan, senior caravan and
senior banners for the homecoming parade that we will hopefully be able to to hold on Wednesday,
April 14th. Being able to have these events safely will help us pull through to the end of the year, and
allow us to end our senior years on a positive note. We all would love to have something to look
forward to again.
I ask that you please take our requests into consideration, and I thank you so much for taking the time
to listen. Thank you!
Sincerely, Kristen Schrumpf

Your Comments/Sus comentarios
My name is Keona C, I'm writing this comment on trying to get funds for my ASB class to have our homecoming caravan, an end of
the year senior caravan, and hang up some banners of seniors downtown. The hardships I have endured and I know many have to is
losing motivation for everything school work, talking during class, or even showing ourselves. We missed out on having our dances
homecoming and winter formal. Being with our friends and having the social life during school. We haven't been able to do many
fund raisers like we could have so we don't have a lot of money to do these activities. Doing these activities like homecoming
caravan, an end of the year senior caravan, and hang up some banners of seniors downtown could raise our spirits because we know
that someone is trying to help us become happy. To conclude, this is my petition for the city council to fund us to have these
activities.
Thank you,
City of Palm Springs

PSHS Caravan Proposal
Dear Palm Springs City Council,
My name is Daveigh Espares. I'm the Junior Class Vice President at Palm Springs High School. Palm
Springs High School hopes to receive a grant for funding in order to make our plan of a homecoming caravan,
senior caravan, and senior banners at downtown become a reality.
Due to the pandemic, distance learning has been difficult to maintain the spirit that PSHS has held every
year. We have been able to manage with virtual events, like rallies, but it has been difficult. In a regular school
year, ASB would have been able to fundraise in order to make this happen. However, due to the circumstances,
we have not been able to fundraise so we do not have a budget for activities.
Virtual events and spirit weeks have aided in keeping the school's spirit alive, but events like a
homecoming caravan, senior caravan, and senior banners would boost our spirits even more! In a safe
environment, we would have the ability to come together and enjoy this event, which we have not been able to
do. This would be an amazing opportunity to bring the school together, support one another as this school year
approaches an end, and celebrate our accomplishments.
Thank you for listening! Have a great day!
Best,
Daveigh Espares
PSHS Junior

Palm Springs High School Grant
Hello my name is Monique Yepiz and I am writing to you on behalf of the Associated Student Body for the
Palm Springs High School Grant. With distant learning going on it is very difficult to do things and have a fun
highschool experience. We were not really able to do any high school activities such as being able to watch
rallies, or sports games which makes the highschool experience much better. Also, we physically in person can
not do those activities. It is very hard to raise money when there are barely any places that would help us
fundraise considering COVID-19 and this affects us a lot because we then can not afford to have some activities
to boost the students' spirits. These events would be a homecoming caravan, senior caravan, and hanging senior
banner. These events will help us raise the students' spirit. Such as this will be the first homecoming caravan
freshman students will be able to have including myself. For the Sophomores and the Junior would be able to
enjoy and create new memories as well. For the seniors it would be some good memories of their senior life. All
in all this would bring much joy to all of the students and give them good memories in a really difficult time.
Thank you for reading this and considering the Palm Springs High School Grant.
Sincerely,
Monique Yepiz.

PSHS Funding
Hello. My name is Zoe Posa, I am a sophomore at PSHS, and I am also a part of the Associated Student Body program. I
am emailing about the upcoming City Council meeting that will decide if PSHS will get the funding for the Homecoming
caravan, the senior caravan, and the senior posters. I personally believe that the City Council members should grant
Palm Springs High School the funding for these activities. Distance learning has taken so much away from the students of
PSHS. All we want is to live normal teenage lives but our current situation is preventing us from basic high school
activities. This year's seniors had to spend their whole last year of high school at home. I think they deserve the caravan
and the posters for everything they have to endure during COVID. Unfortunately, we are unable to do fundraisers to
fund these projects so it really would be greatly appreciated for the Palm Springs City Council to fund these projects for
our Homecoming and for our seniors. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
